About the role

Our web team builds, updates and supports websites for small businesses hosted on the 1208 Host platform. As a Junior Web Developer you will work on new client builds, ongoing website update requests logged through our help desk, and the occasional internal tool. You will work closely with the hosting team, so you will learn how sites are deployed, secured and backed up, not only how they are coded.

What you will do

Website builds
  • Build responsive client websites in WordPress and hand-coded HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Turn client briefs and mock-ups into working pages within agreed turnaround times.
  • Set up contact forms, SSL redirects and basic SEO settings on every new site.
Support and updates
  • Work through website update tickets logged in the HESK help desk.
  • Apply plugin, theme and core updates and test sites afterwards.
  • Troubleshoot broken pages, PHP errors and slow-loading sites with the hosting team.
Ways of working
  • Keep code in Git and follow the team's branching and review process.
  • Document changes on each client account so support staff can see what was done.

About the role

A large share of our new business comes from government and corporate tenders. The Tender Administrator owns the process from spotting an opportunity to submitting a compliant bid on time.
